The Rule of Equals

Sunday, March 14, 2010 , In , ,

Ever since we were in the kindergarten, we were taught that everything in the universe must have it's equal. In direct terms, we were taught that 1 = 1. In indirect terms, blue = blue = biru. Well you get the point.

Let's take it up a notch.

We know that 5 = 5.
We can also say that 3 + 2 = 5.
And 3 + 2 = 1 + 4 = 7 - 2 which also equals to 5.

So what can we say about the above example? Simple, no matter how you add or subtract on one side, the other side must add up or subtract some so that the result match. That's what the rule is all about :)

Okay, now let's relate this to life. Look at this simple example:

Let's say for example you want to travel from Town A to Town B. No matter what mode of transportation you take, air or land or sea, the end will be the same; you will arrive at Town B (regardless of the condition you arrive in and duration of the trip). If you don't get to Town B, it just counts as another equation - how NOT to travel from Town A to Town B.

Still with me? Good. Let's take it up another notch.

If you take something, you will have to pay for it. Whether you pay with cash, or by returning the favor, or someone else pays on your behalf. Everything has it's price.

Examples;
Chupa Chups = 60 cents
A pair of boxer shorts = RM20
You want to own a car = buy a car
You want to maintain the luxury and benefits of having a car = bare the maintenance costs, fuel, road tax etc.
Good = good
Bad = bad
If you help someone = the good deed will be returned to you
If you hurt someone = you will have to pay the price of guilt.

I'm sure you can find that this rule applies to everything that we do in life. So that just leaves us with choices. Make the right choice, and I'm sure the result will be rewarding for you (sometimes in the most unsuspected ways).

Just remember that there's no exact price for anything. Somethings are priceless, but for everything else, there's MasterCard. :D
